Biography

Educated in Ireland and qualified from University College, Cork in 1981. After hospital jobs and a stint in General Practice in Cork City he worked for a year in the Ibn Al Bitar Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq. After this he moved to North East Brazil to study Acupuncture and Tropical Medicine. He remained in Brazil doing voluntary medical work in a small fishing village called Cumuruxatiba, Bahia. In 1994 he moved back to the UK full time and worked in a variety of hospital and GP positions within the NHS.

He has developed an interest in chronic illnesses over the years and works with some of the most renowned physicians in this area worldwide. He currently sees patients on the NHS at the Herne Hill Road Medical Practice and privately at the Chelsea Consulting Rooms.

Dermot also regularly gives lectures on the science behind Intermittent Low Calorie Fasting and runs a Health Renewal Programme at his retreats at Casa Q Coisa, Cumuruxatiba, Bahia, North East Brazil.
